textarea - filling in text

Hi
If I have a form with an textarea, when entering the text i would like to edit it. The best example the hotmail when writing an email a texteditor appears.

can someone tell me how this is done and also is there an example i can use.

You can edit text in a normal text area. If you want to do some formatting you need to get a javascript text area. If you know a bit of PHP i can recommend spaw edit BUT it only works in IE5.5 & above
