TextArea and TextInput backgrounds disappear 1

I've added a TextArea and some TextInput boxes into a form on my flash web site. It looks great as .fla, but in .swf, the white backgrounds disappear, leaving only black text on a dark background. Needless to say, this isn't good for me. Can someone explain to me how to get the white background to show up? All of the tutorials and help files seem to imply that there is no special change necessary to make these form components work, but that apparently isn't the case for me.

Assure that the textboxes are on the highest layer (so that they are not being "covered" by other mc's or perhaps by dynamically created mc's)..

I have experienced this problem before & it occurred when I was utilizing buttons in the background for some reason??

However, what I did as a workaround was to create a new mc & then put a white box with no border on layer 1 & then an input textbox on layer two directly over the white box. Basically, you would be creating the white background manually. Try this - should work.

Yes, thanks. I was thinking about doing that, but I'm concerned that I won't be able to use the scroll bar, should the text area scroll off the small window area. I will give it a shot and see.

if you are having problem with the scrollbar - I have used a scrollbar from kirupa.com that works great with mc's included. As long as the mc's are in a primary mc called ContentMain.

also, check out my question & bill watson's replies on this forum.. (about 4 down from this post). regarding scrollbars. If you download the fla & then apply bill's updates - you will find a scrollbar that works quite well.
