I'm running SCO OpenServer 5.0.5, and am trying to get a printer ( HP inkjet ) to print via a Jet Direct card. I can get the thing to connect & print, but it just does a line feed - the text "stairs" down the page.
How do I get a LF / CR combination to the printer ?

either xtod the file before printing (not recomended) or have the printer add the cr. This is a setting on most hp LASERJETS. I have not seen an inkjet used successfully from SCO but that is a function of the application generating the print job.

The PCL command <esc>&k2G will have the printer supply the CR to the line.

I would have thought that the interface script would supply that code automatically at the beginning of the print stream. It only needs to be sent once at the beginning.

Or as suggested above, you can add the CR's to the text.

Think at one point I used a stty before the file dump in the interface script. stty onnlcr. Or something like that. It was a long time ago.

Thanks for the info, guys. I have a lot of C programs running on the SCO box, and all are capable of printing text to the printer. As the inkjet is new, it can emulate an early LaserJet - so that's how I've set it up. What I really need is an option within the print driver, or spooler, etc that will add a carriage return.

I've been able to change the printer to append a CR to LF, and now the printer works great ! I was a little worried, as it is also a shared printer from a Windows 2000 box, but there doesn't seem to have been any problems.
Thanks for your help. :)
