Text Path Question

I don't quite know how to word this cause i'm not a graphics person and don't know the lingo.
I know how to modify the path of text using text -> attach to path. The problem is I want it to look like part of a 3d sphere so I want all the text to bend and curve not just the path. After I attach to path the text is in a curve like i want but the straight edges are still straight. Skew doesn't seem to work either. Any help would be great. thanks.
