Text Panels in DW

I am looking for a way to create a lighter colored text panel in a cell (ie I am using a scan line style dark backgound and I want about 50% transperancy in the cell to put the text in) I have done this with a graphic but since it does not resize to the text it is a major pain! Any hints ?
