hi,
I've a problem with my linux. When I start it, it only load on text mode. I need it load graphic mode. How can I do this? When can I active X?

thx

Edit /etc/inittab and set the default runlevel to "5":

Change "id:3:initdefault:" to "id:5:initdefault:"

Thanks, but on my inittab I have put id:5:initdefault

When I load my linux, I have this failed:

wainting for mandatory devices: eth-id-MAC1 eth-id-MAC2
eth-id-MAC1 No interface found --> failed
eth-id-MAC2 No interface found --> failed
...
Setting up service network --> failed
Starting acpid --> failed
...

Failed services in runlevel 5: --- network acpid dhcpd
Skipped services in runlevel 5: --- smbfs nfs

What I can do ??

Is this a fresh install? Did it ever work? What distribution?

Try logging in and running startx, and if that does not work, try configuring X using the xf86config or xorgcfg commands.

Annihilannic.

It works well, but somebody has done some in it. I have try do statx, but it doesn't work.
How can I configure X using xf86config or xorgcfg commands?

thxs

You just run them and it prompts you for the configuration?

What do you mean "it doesn't work" when you try startx? Any error message?

Annihilannic.

Not enough info.

As Annihilannic asked before, what distribution?

if you desperately need X try accessing it remotely with VNC. Load a vncserver session and call your machine with vncclient from elsewhere. It may not solve the problem but will get you in your graphic mode.

If I could have sex each time I reboot my server, I would definitely prefer Windoz over Linux!

Code:
wainting for mandatory devices: eth-id-MAC1 eth-id-MAC2
eth-id-MAC1 No interface found --> failed
eth-id-MAC2 No interface found --> failed
...
Setting up service network --> failed
Starting acpid --> failed
...

Failed services in runlevel 5: --- network acpid dhcpd
Skipped services in runlevel 5: --- smbfs nfs

This means your network stuff isn't set up correctly either. What Distro are you using? Is it a fresh install that was never configured or an old install that "broke".

[plug=shameless]
[/plug]

Distro: Suse
It is old install that "broke".

well, since it's "broken" ....doesn't that answer your question ? how did it "break". Has anything been done to work on the cause of the "problem" ?
