Text missing on older versions of plug-in

Has anyone else had this problem? You work and develop a flash animation, it works fine on your machine, but when you run it on another machine with an older version of the flash browser plugin the words are missing? If so, is there a work around?

If you view Flash 8+ movie with Flash 7- player texts won't be displayed (as you know well now!)

I would place a plug-in detection in the HTML and force user to update the player. SWF Object is a popular choice. <
