Does anybody have any ideas on how to place Diary fields in a report. I have a field on the report that is basically an audit trail of any action taken on a single record. The field obviously has a lot of data in it. Can anybody provide me with some guidance on how to data from a Diary Field\Audit log field.

In one instance, it will take up the whole left side of the page, with nothing on the left. The customers don't like the idea of too much white space on the report, but I don't know how else to reduce white space, considering they want everything from the diary field in the report.

BTW - I am using a Subreport for the Audit trail piece of the report.

You could insert a section_b just for the diary field and stretch the subreport (and field) across the page. Then also format the section to "suppress blank section" in cases where they might be no entry.

Another option would be to make the subreport on-demand, so that only a link appears on the main report, and the subreport would then open in its own window as needed.

Your post is missing a word, so I'm not sure if your question is about formatting or something else.

It is really about formatting. The Data is there, but I just want to make it as presentable as possible to the Powers that be. The won't take it looking like that, but yet, They data is set as is, becausse it stored every time a single record is updated - (Example, what field was modified, what the original value was, what the value was changed to, who changed the value of the field.) and then it still contains original values of fields that have not been modified.) So there is a lot of data in that one field.

But let's just say there is a field that you need to put on the report, but it happens to have a lot of data (Diary field), how would you try to make it blend with the rest of the report? (formatting wise).

Could you explain a little further what the Section_b is.

If your data is in the detail section, insert a detail_b section. You can either right click on the gray section to the left of the report canvas for the section where you want the new b section->insert section below, or go into the section expert, select details->insert section.

I misunderstood you on the detail section part, I got that part.

I am trying out the ON Demand option. So far so good, I just need to figure out a way for the user to pull the report if, it is exported to a PDF
