Text makes a line over letters which goes across the while line!?!?!

My Pagemake 6.5 PC version has recently started doing funky things. When I place the text tool down it does the text correctly, however it makes a straight horizontal line all the way across the page above the letters, or even if I just type one letter. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled it twice but it does the same thing. Any ideas?

Michelle: odd problems are sometimes caused
by the graphics card setting "Hardware Acceleration=0%..100%".
Just a test: set HA=0%. The setting is accessible via
System/Monitor/Advanced or so, I can´t describe it in English.
