Text Line spacing in Adobe InDesign 2.0

I am new to InDesign and have a problem. I have a text box that I need to type a paragraph of text. When I am typing, the program is spacing out the lines in the paragraph too much. How can I make it so the lines of text in the paragraph are tight and neat?

Adjust leading in the Character Palette. Information about leading is found in the user manual and online help.
