I have 2 queries.

1) I work of a company that publishes math textbooks. We have a teachers edition and a student edition. The teacher's edition has the answers in it. What we need to know is, in the same text box, can you place text from the same text box in 2 different layers without having to created separate text boxes.

2) I have been using story editor, and as I'm sailing through it ups and crashes. I don't have to be doing anything involved just changing type to italic or bold. Any solutions or is this just another Indesign bug?

thanks

Text boxes - if you create a text box (or use a frame tool and designate content as text (Object menu/content) you can then duplicate that layer and put different content in the box in the new layer. You then hide the layer that you're not working on. When going to print or pdf export, make sure to hide the layers that you don't want to print.

The single biggest cause of crashes when working with thext is corrupt fonts. If you're using OSX, it's best to clear your Adobe font caches about once a week. You could also change the font in Story Editor Display prefs. If you use Windows, you might try reinstalling the font or changing the default font in Story Editor Display prefs.

The second biggest cause of crashes is memory problems. You really should have at least a gig of RAM and 64 megs of VRAM to run ID with a lot of pages and linked graphics.
