We have on the website FLASH movies that loads text from a TXT file and display it in the FLASH movie on the website. That text is very blurry, why?

On another website we have created a movie with a navigation bar with the text created in FLASH, but the text is still blurry. If we change the text to DEVICE FONT it looks alright, but the KERN we had on the text is then not working, why?

Thanks!

The "blurry"-ness you are describing is called anti-aliasing - it's supposed to soften the look of the text. The problem with anti-aliasing is that if the text you use is not a standard size for the font (i.e. 12, 14, 18, 24, etc.) it will be anti-aliased in a slightly different way, making it look more "soft" than it should.

The solution would be to use a pixel font, such as those you can download free at - that should look pretty crisp at whatever size you use.

Laying your text on full pixels (ie x=125.0 & y=156.0 rather than x=125.3 & y=156.7) also usually helps clearing up the font somewhat. If the text is inside a movie clip also make sure the movie clip is also positioned on full pixels, otherwise again, your text may end up on fractioned pixels.
Embedding the fonts used, will also make them more blurry. Regards,
