Hi,

I've got this nav bar logo thing with layer buttons. Each button has a text layer on top of it. Okay, fine, but when I try to create the mouseover effect (text gets a glow), the text seems to be on top of the button like it should, but the style (the glow) goes underneath! I've done lots of these before and am not sure why this is happening this time.

How do I get the glow style to appear on top of the button instead of hidden underneath?

Thank-you!

Hi,

Can you show me a sample of what you are seeing. That would be quite helpful. You say that the glow effect for the text (that is on top) is under the button. Is that correct?

Are you sure you are adding the glow effect to the correct layer?

Hi again,

I took a crop of an example of what I mean. The glow is only for the text, and it appears fine on the text when it's not overtop of the button. As soon as it goes over the button, it seems to go under, but you can still sorta see the glow (appears slightly white on top of the button).

Take a look here...

Thanks

Hi,

Have you accidentally set the text layer to be on some kind of blending mode?

On the Layers Palette there is a drop down next to opacity, make sure the blending mode is on Normal for both the text and the button underneath.

Then if it is, I would suggest deleting the text layer, and make a new text layer. After you have created the text, rasterize or render the layer then apply the glow to it.

See if that help. If not then post back.

Hope this helps! NATE

Hey,

I was fiddling around and discovered that the outer glow was set to 'screen' rather than 'multiply' for the text. Multiply allows the glow to go over the button nicely.

Thanks for your help and interest. I appreciate it.
