Text file data source

Hi all,
I am using several text files for data sources with CR8. My application generates these files then crystal uses the text odbc driver to read them.
This works fine and it is so much faster than attacking my application's database with its' odbc driver.
But every silver lining has its' cloud :-(
I have a sub report which I need to link using TWO fields. (1 field works fine, although sub reports are REALLY slow).
I get a wonderful GPF in p2sodbc.dll and crystal disappears, like my hopes of finishing this report.
I changed the p2sodbc.dll 'cos there was a patch on the seagate site, I have version 8.0.0.85 07/20/2000.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Is there anyother patch?
Is the patch the problem?
Will I ever finish my report?
Any help, comments, shoulder to cry on will be appreciated.
Thanks,
phirst.

Sounds frustrating. As it seems reasonable to assume you are running into some defect related to linking subreports on multiple fields using p2sodbc.dll, I would try
1) setting the location of the subreport, using a new connection rather than the existing one used for the main report. This shouldn't make any difference, but might.
2) make sure you have verified the datasources etc.
3) consider modifying your application to produce a single text file, rather than multiple text files that you need to use subreports with.
3 is oviously a last resort, but would simplify things for SCR, although not for your application. Malcolm

November is "be kind to dogs and programmers" month. Or is that "dogs or programmers"?

Hi Malcolm,
It was frustating, but Crystal is!
I finally used option 3, this was a lot easier 'cos I have full control of the text file generation.
Thanx,
phirst.
