I have a text field in a report whose control could be large or not even exist. Problem: I have to have enough space for 10 lines but if there is nothing in the field to print, it leaves this huge space. I used "can grow" and "can shrink" but it doesn't grow or shrink. What am I missing here? Thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

The Can Grow property should do the trick for you. Make sure you only make the size of the text box to one line size in height. Don't make it tall and expect it to shrink if you have other text objects with the same vertical spacing. There is a linking between items on the same horizontal line as other objects.

I believe that you only have to use the Can Grow item in this instance if you make it one line tall origianlly.

Thanks Bob! I finally figured out that you have to set the Can Grow/Shrink setting in the section properties as well. It's working properly now. That was the one piece of the puzzle I was missing. Thanks again for your ideas!!
