Hi, a text field is being cut short on one of the reports in which it occurs. It shows all the text in several reports, just not this one. It's been working perfectly for several years and I have no idea what has changed. In this instance it is in a group header which has 8 fields - there is no detail section - and which is grouped by an autonumber field. Can grow is set.
I'd be glad of some help! Rob

Please tell us how many characters are being shown?
Is it about 255 characters?
Is the text box growing?
Is there anything in the format property of the text box?
What is the control source?

Sorry, I misinformed you. It's a memo field.
Yes, the field does grow, but it stops mid word, about halfway across a line.
The format property is blank.
The control source of the report is a multi-table (5) query.

There are 321 characters (with spaces) or 260 (without).

It's so liong since I designed this report that I can't remember why it seemed to work best with this info in a group section. But as it did work, I've left it alone - until today!

Thanks for your interest!

I've just run the query and the text is cut short there too.

I've also seen that it's being cut off at 255 characters.

I'm vaguely remembering that there can be a problem having memo fields in a part of a report that has grouping. It's only rarely that there would be more than 255 characters in this field (although there could be thousands) - I might not have noticed the error.

It's not the memo field I'm grouping on though - it's just one of the 8 in the group header.
I'm going to try moving the info out into the detail section, but as it's getting late on Friday afternoon, it'll have to wait for Monday.

Does seem that the problem is with the query though. What do you think?

You're right. I might post a question on the query list, but I'll play around with the it for a while first and see if I can crack it. Many thanks for your interest!
