Hello, I have been trying to mess around with text effects, and it seems that I am very limited in what I can do with Illustrator (10). I am so used to Photoshop. I can go in there and add all these bevels, and all that. I saw some things in illustrator under effects, but it seems it does not have the same power as PS. I am trying to maintain vector graphics, but I am having a hard time getting my text to look "cool". Do I need to just get a basic design, and save that in Illustrator, and then when I know the size it is going to be printed as (used as), then bring it into PS and do all the neat stuff I can do in there? I am just not sure.

Thanks

Zodd:

If you are willing to invest the time (for some people it's a breeze, while others struggle) you can learn enough skills with gradient meshes, envelopes, and blends to do a good job in Illustrator 10.

Illustrator CS and 2 have limited 3-d capabilities, with bevels and extrusions. You can more easily create text-effects. Maybe it's time to consider upgrading. From recent reports about CS2, it may currently be safer to scoop up an inexpensive CS unleaded, but that's just what I've heard...
