Hello Everyone

I made some changes to etc/hosts file on my solaris machine it gave a bad address error on hme0 qfe0 now I can t open the text editor to make changes can anyone give a hint thx

Hi,
Have you tried to open hosts file by using vi from console?
If the system stuck, shutdown the system and open it to single user with "boot -s" command. And try again the vi..
Regards

Hello

Let me give the full scenario I have a bad hme0 int on my Primary DNS Server and I have a new quad which I installed succesfully.

I want to disable the hme0 int and transfer all the settings to the qfe0 int. I set the IP address of the hme0 to 10.0.0.1 and gave the qfe0 int te valid IP address which was on the hme0 int. Also int hosts file I gave the qfe0 int the name of the hme0 int and renamed the hme0 int

in the hostname.hme0 and hostname.qfe0 files I did the same thing but still recieved the error TT_ERR_PTYPE_START when Itried to start text editor which is an indication of an error in configuration

Using the command "usr/openwin/bin/textedit &" I can acces a version of text editor now

So ineed help on what to do frm this stage
