text Counter

Hello, I need a text counter but i do not want those free one on the web. I've been trying to install different perl, cgi counter found on the web but I can't seem to make them work
Could someone give me a code with all the explanation on how to assemble. It seems easy but I'm new at perl cgi.

I do not see the image?? , I put all the unzipped documents in my cgi-bin on server and paste the line in my html code. Could it be a problem if my page extention is asp??

Yes it could be, is your server set up to run cgi scripts?
