text box not receiving row source

Hows it going

I have a textbox whose row source is a query that runs on data coming from the live form (other boxes)that the textbox is on. the thing is that the qury is a 'max' query
just containing 1 field 'maxofDateUpTo' and will not populate until its parent query has run. i've tried putting an open query then requery in the form load but still nothing

any ideas?
