Hi,

I work with Publisher for our church newsletter - and it seems like the text boxes are set to have a certain format. The left margin is way over and there is a large indent set, plus bold formatting. When I copy a text box from another Publisher document and paste it into the newsletter document - it changes the formatting every time. It's not a huge problem, but it takes a little time to reset everything and make it look right again.

Does anyone know if there is something I should go to in Publisher to not have a certain formatting for the text boxes? Thanks!

This is from Publisher 2007 HELP
Save and reuse content in the Content Library
When you create branding for your business, you can store it and use it again in subsequent publications. If you create logos, lists of services, success stories, maps to a business location, testimonials, and pictures that you plan to reuse in your future publications, add these items to the Content Library.

For more information about adding content to the Content Library, see Add Item to Content Library dialog box.

When I do something like this, I create a new text box in the new document, then to a Copy of the content from the old document, and Paste-Special the content into the new document. I get clean results every time.

Hi Skip,

I have MS Publisher 2000...

Fred,

I have tried making a new text box, but it always comes up with a weird format - with a first line indent and the left margin moved over quite a bit from the side of the text box. I also noticed that it has two bold marks on the ruler at the top of the text box - like tab stops.

It seems like if I would just paste a text box in from my other document that it should keep the same formatting, but it doesn't - it just switches to the goofy formatting. (Do you like how technical I am? :)

Thanks for trying to help, guys!

It sounds as though you have a newsletter template saved with formatting already defined, or else you're using a Newsletter with the odd settings as the basis for each new newsletter edition. I used to use Publisher 2000, have been using 2007 at home, have 2003 here at work. If you look in the Save As menu, you'll find on the File Type dropdown, a Publisher Template option. Try correcting the template oddness in the newsletter PUB you're using, then clear out as much as you need to, then save it as a Publisher Template, and use that for your next issue. Or just save the corrections in the current edition, and use it as the basis for your next edition.
