Text block duplicated on pg2

Hi all,

I have a subreport that has a text block that is marked "Suppress if duplicated" except that it shows up on the next page if the data flows there. I have the text box and the formula in the Details section, and I'm using CR X. How can I suppress it on subsequent pages?

Try referencing the text in the "suppress" x+2 area instead of using suppress if duplicated. Enter a formula in the x+2 area like this (without checking the box):

{table.text} = previous({table.text})

I think suppress if duplicated allows a field to suppress except if it is the first row on a new page, but using the previous() function in the suppress formatting formula area gets around this.

I see how this could potentially work, but it's a text block and isn't a field from a table. Any suggestions?

Well, it's appearing there for a reason--is there a field placed in it? Or a unique ID associated with the appearance of the text box? Use that in the suppression formula. I'm assuming you are referring to a text box? If not what is this? An OLE Object? An inserted box?

Yes, the text box is in the same row with a formula, and if there is data in the subreport that needs to flow to the next page, the text box is repeated on page 2. It IS a text box and therefore there is no formula associated with it from the database. I can't find any kind of ID or specific tag that would allow me to identify the text box in order to make a suppression formula.

The reappearance of the text box on page 2 seems to be automatic and built into CR. Any work-arounds you can think of?

Why is the text box there? What purpose does it serve? It must relate to something in the subreport. Do you want the text box to not appear when the formula doesn't? If so, then use the same suppression formula for the text box as for the formula. In other words, you need to suppress the box the same way any other fields in the same row are suppressed on the second page.
