In Word 2007, the left and right align buttons on the quick access toolbar are greyed out. Center works just fine. What is causing this? I deleted the normal.dotm file, but that did not solve the problem.

mufka,

A little more information is probably needed.

Does this happen for all docs?
Only new ones?
Are templates involved?
Were the affected docs created in another version?

I may not have the answer, but this info will probably help you get one.

Good luck!

This happens with all documents, new and old (some created in 2003 and some in 2007). I'm not using any templates.

You have added the 'Left Align' and 'Right Align' buttons, which don't work... I don't know what these buttons are for or why they don't work, but if you will instead choose the 'Align Text Left' and 'Align Text Right' buttons, you will have better luck.

If you will use the drop-down to choose to look at commands on the Home tab, these buttons are at the top of the list.

You're right. So silly to have two icons that look the same. Now I just wonder what the left align and right align are supposed to be for. They don't work anywhere.
