Hey folks,
I want to enable some of our support folks to try out a new version of some crystal reports. The newer versions we have require changes to arrpt.ini. Can I use customization folders for a test company to hold alternate versions of arrpt.ini as well as the actual crystal.rpt files? Will accpac look for all reports and ini files in there first or only for stock dot-rpt files?
thanks!

AFAIK it is reports only, not INI files.... but I could be wrong.

Unfortunately .ini files in the customizations directories are ignored. It would be a great way to implement/distribute reports in some environments.

What we found in testing is that we could have report.ini files in the customization folder but that stanzas pertaining to the native Accpac crystal reports would be ignored in the customization folder copy of report.ini; other stanzas *would* be read from the customization folder report.ini files.

Moving forward we will no longer customize any native reports but instead create new ones (possibly by copying a native one to a new name). This means we will no longer modify neither the stock reports nor the stock report.ini files. I am not (yet?) aware of any stock crystal reports that can't be configured to use a different report file so I think we are set for testing isolation even in a live environment.

cheers
