I have a new IP phone system installed in my office. With this system, i can take my phone anywhere and plug it into any network which has access to internet and use my phone as a local office phone. I have tested this within my city (between my home and office) remotely with a cable modem and it works beautifully. Now this phone was sent to another city but does not work there. The phone needs port 51000 to be open to work on both ends. My end is open, how do i test whether the remote broadband connection my user has at other end has port 51000 open and working? The admin at the remote ISP is not much help. The remote network can connect to my VPN/internet properly so i know that setup is OK for normal access. Can i ping the remote computer thru port 51000 or something to test if that port is open or not? Please advise, thanks.
