HI,guys

We need a good way to thoroughly test a 2GB memory,to uncover any problem.

I do not think the regular diag is sufficient for this case.

What will be the recomendation for such a testing ?

what type of server is it ?
On many servers , when you do a reboot and go into service procesor menu , you have option to do slow IPL when booting which checks all your memory.

is that what your after?

IPL = Initial Program Load

The "old way" to refer to a boot. There are options in the NVRAM (SMS) but I don't have a 6F1 handy and don't know the options exactly. If you can specify a slow-IPL it should do a good check. The old microchannel boxen would test the RAM with each processor, which took forever in a 8-way machine, unless you specified fast-IPL. I think some of the early PCI and CHRP would default to fast-IPL, but they would still all check RAM with proc0, I believe. IBM Certified -- AIX 4.3 Obfuscation
