Hello all, hope you can help........

I've heard of a "test" virus that you can make yourself by creating a text file including the letters
"ZQZXJVBVT". Apparently when you access the file it should alert your virus software. I've tried this and it doesn't appear to work . Does anyone know what I've done wrong or is someone winding me up ? Any sugestions gratefully received & have a good w-end.

Tried it with Norton, didn't work. Does work with Mcafee though. cool!

I use Norton, and it works for mine as well...I checked.
Worked with InnoculateIT, PCcillin, McAfffee.
If it didnt work for you on Norton, what version are you using?

The more I learn,I realize how much more there is to know!

I am using Norton Internet security 2002. Yahoo mail virus check, which is Norton, didn't find it either. Hotmail uses Mcafee which did find it. hmmm

Everything should find that when saved as eicar.com. It isn't always found with just the text. If your virus scanner doesn't find it when named correctly, something's wrong. Start by doing an online virus scan somewhere like becase some viri will shut down virus scanners. Better make sure this is not the case for you.

Thanks smah, I just went to RAV and they found it. Then did Norton online scan, and Norton didn't find it. Starting to get very unhappy with norton. My subscription runs out this month, I'll probably try something else.
