We are installing CE9 on a Test Server and I would like to set up all users, folders, security, etc on the Test Server and then not have to re-create everything on the Production Server. The thing is we are changing our folder and security structure from our existing Seagate Info 7 structure. I can't imagine that there is any easy way to copy the structure from the Test Server over to Production because I cannot imagine that I could then import the reports and instances over and get them in the proper folder. Is there anyone out there who has already done this?
My guess is I'll have to re-do everything on the Production server since I will have to bring over all of the reports and instances on a weekend and make sure that they fall into the proper revised folders...

Hi, you might try this:

caution:
I plan to test this method myself, in a couple of weeks,. so I do not know if it will work in practicce, altho' in theory it should..
Others may let us both know that it will not work...If so, thanks..

When setting up the test server, specify a file server location for the Input and Output directories after you copy them from your existing structure to the new location.
After the input and output servers 'know' about the new locations, import your APS data from your production installation to the APS used by the test installation ( and be sure it has a separate one and is not clustered)
and that should reestablish the report ID#s and security info..

Are you planning on changing folder structures and security in your CE9 implementation? Our folders will look totally different as well as our security. Are you moving from Seagate Info 7?

Sorry about the confusion, we are moving from CE8.5 to 9, so my example, even if it would work, may not be much use..
That's what I get for trying to read on a Monday [smile]
