Test server won't connect

I have a Netware 5 server that I am trying to directly connect to a Win98 workstation. The workstation doesn't see the tree. Both IPX and IP are installed and bound to the boards. I am sure this is something obvious that I have overlooked, but it is driving me nuts. I have tried the preferred server setting in the client by IP and name, it still doesn't see it. If I plug the workstation into the LAN, it will see all the other servers. The test server, when plugged into the LAN, cannot be seen either. I have checked the test server settings against the other servers, and they are the same. Any thoughts? Thank-you

Firstly, if you are connecting the test server directly to a workstation, you will need a crossover cable and not a standard RJ45 cable - unless you are going through a hub of some sort. Also, unless your Windows 98 workstation has been configured with same IPX information or a static IP Address in the same range as the server, the workstation will not see the test server as it has no connection method.

It is odd that you say that the test server cannot be seen when connected to the LAN, can't you at least ping it from a workstation? I presume the IP Address it is allocated is one that is correct for your LAN?

Also, if you're using IPX, make sure you have the frame types matched.
