Test Line

How do I enable the test line in LD 15 for an 81c? I have one that works in my 61c's, but I can't get it to work in any of my other 81c. I can program the numbers in the t100 and ref0 and so on but all I get is a fast busy when I call them. I see that in the Alphabetical list of prompts page 367 for LD 15 that their is a Prompt "TSL (NO) YES Test lines for this customer", but I can not find where to say yes. Any ideas?

I've never seen a purpose for Test Line, but just the same I looked and found no prompt "TSL" in the books.

I do see the TST_DATA in the books. I'm curious if that feature is even there any more? What release of systems does it work and not work on?

Sorry it was TSTL not TSL. Like I said it works on my 61c but I cant get it to work on the 81c. My outside plant cable guy wants to use it to test pairs with.

I stumbled on it while sraighting out my cdp. I have a T100 that gives me a tone for about 5 sec then keeps goes quiet and keeps the line active, and a REF0 that keeps the tone on as long as you stay connected. It;s pretty handy for doing test calls.

I just dial the DN that I assign it and it gives me the tones I described before. I didnt set it up originally I just found it by chance and started using it. My cable guy has a test set that he uses to dial the DN when he is testing a pair and it does something with it. He calls it a milliwatt line.

That'snot a PBX line. It an older 0009 CO number. You dial xxx-0009 and get a Milliwatt tone generator from the CO. Most CO's don't use them anymore. Not needed with automated CO testers, and T-Birds now days. Tell him to buy a cable tester and certify them.

The T100 test line is very useful if you have analog trunks, especially tie lines. Can be used for testing loss levels and noise from one end without having to attach extra equipment at the far end. There used to be feature called Automatic Trunk Maintenance that could check all your trunks in a network and give you error messages for bad trunks. I think ATM was discontinued but you can still use the T100 and REF0.

You can only dial the test DN from a trunk and of course the DN has to be in the dial plan.

Thanks for the info guys. I will pass it on to my cable guy who happens to be an old Qwest Tech. We dont really need this then since we dont have any analog trunks.
