Hi, I am looking for a batch file that I can run from the command line within windows xp, 7, 8 etc.. to do check the internet download, upload, ping - similar to OOKLA Speed Test App

I can put a file on my own website for the batch file to use if it was going to use ftp??

I have looked at WGET but not sure how to get it to work.

I would like something that would just display the results like..

Ping: 64ms
Download: 1.15Mbps
Upload: 0.38 Mbps

Maybe the gateway address like what is displayed in tracert?
Unfortunately, I don't have access to the computers on the network to go to spedtet.net etc as web browsers are disabled. All computers are allowed to do is send / receive emails..

Please can anyone advise or point me in the correct direction.

many thanks

Brian

Use ftp, you can 'put' and 'get' files of a known size and time them.

If all they can do is send and receive emails, then why are you concerned with the speed of the internet? Especially if browsers are disabled. Is the mail through a local server? if so, then you are just concerned with the servers speed on the internet, and no need for a batch file to test all of the clients. And if it hosted locally and the clients are slow sending and receiving mail, I'd look at the speed of the internal network. If it is not hosted locally by a server, and the mail server is internet or intranet based, what is the local access to the internet? Is it Cable? what speed? is it DSL? what speed? Is it T1,T3,ISDN? How many clients? Is their a configuration on the server or the router that is limiting the bandwidth to each client? I guess I should ask why do you want a speed test? What is happening, and what is the setup?
