Test for the location of the cursor

When the user clicks a button I need to test for the location of the cursor. It needs to be in the first column and the row does not matter. If it is not in the first column then how do I put it there?

This should do the trick...

Sub Check_ColumnA()
curcolm = ActiveCell.Column
currow = ActiveCell.Row
If curcolm <> 1 Then
Cells(currow, 1).Select
End If
End Sub
