I,m trying to set my box at home up to prepare to update from GP8 to GP10, mainly concerned w/ custom report updates before I trash the company billing system. I'm positive the hardware I've got can cover this, the software is XP sp2 and SQL 2000 standard. When I try to install GP 8 or 9 I get a message, "the system file (autoexec.nt) is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Windows applications".
I went on the Microsoft Knowledge base and applied a fix that was published but didn't work,-- change some system variables.
I realize this is probably not the forum for this question, except for how frustrating GP/MS is, but any help would be appreciated. I've tried other forums with no help.

Is the computer at home you are using XP Home Edition or Professional. DynamicsGP wont install on the Home Edition successfully.

Robert,

That may be true for version 10 as I haven't had time to test it yet.

Right now, I am running GP version 9.0 SP2 with SQL Server 2000 all on my Dell laptop that is running Win XP home edition (haven't had time to upgrade the machine yet). I use this system for testing scenarios and reports development and have not had any problems with it whatsoever.
