Pass a certify for what? Cat-6 certification, or Cat5E certification?
Your runs are going to pass at the lowest component level used. Ie. Cat-5 terminations with Cat-3 cable are going to yield a pass for Cat-3.
You *might* get a pass for Cat-6, but it's certainly nothing I'd rely on, or feel comfortable in saying to a customer.
Also, Cat-6 terminations usually seperate the pairs of wire to where they aren't even near each other. Cat-5e terminations do not. A lot of design differences there.
Sorry, should have included more info. I am trying to make a point to our engineer that says this setup should pass a cat6 cert. We are on a very short time line to finish this job, and do not have any cat6 term. in stock, only cat5e, and cat6 cable. The customer is wanting a giganet, but does not care about a certify. Just trying to prove my point and possibly keep us from replacing all the terminations incase the customer changes there mind on the certify.
Agreed with Novice. Gigabit was intended to run on Cat5e, so if you've got the higher end stuff, it will pass for gigabit, though you will have less room for installer error. It may or may not pass a Cat6 test. Depends on the quality of the connector and the quality of the installation. Might want to give it a try just to see.
