I have a thread started with AfxBeginThread which uses accept(..), which of course blocks. The platform documentation claims that WSACancelBlockingCall should not be used.. How can I interrupt threads that have blocking calls?

I think you can use CloseHandle

Doesn't CloseHandle work exclusively for handles created with CreateFile? I use old BSD style to create the socket.

I guess another approach would be to use a non-blocking accept, something like WSAAccept or AcceptEx (well who needs w98 anyway)..
