We've got a remote server running TS and I've got a general question.

If someone logs into the server as Administrator, and then runs an application as administrator that makes changes to the Registry (eg changes preferences in Word), are those changes rippled through to all the other users or do they only apply to "Administrator-the-user"?

Is Administrator a special case when it comes to Registry changes that he/she makes?

Admin is not unique. It really only depends on whether the change is being written to HKEY_Local_Machine or if it's going to HKEY_Current_User. If it's writing to the latter, the change won't affect other users, if it's to HKLM, it will.

I would expect Word prefs to be an HKCU change.

If you want to create a profile that will affect all users, set up the admin account profile exactly how you want it, then log on as a different admin account, delete all other profiles from the server using the User Profiles tool and then copy the admin profile into the Default User profile folder using the same User Profiles tool and give Everyone permission to use the profile. From then on, when a user logs into the server, it will use the Default User profile as the template for that new user profile, and your users will get whatever settings you'd set up for the Admin account before you did this little dance.
