We have net use lpt2 \\tsclient\lpt1 in a batch file in the users' startup folder.
This is mapping lpt2 on the Windows 2003 R2 Terminal server to lpt1 on the XP SP2 client.(the ERP solution must use LPT1 or LPT2).
Over our LAN the printing is fine, very fast. When printing to this port over the vpn connection, it is painfully slow. About a minute for jobs that are less than 10Kb of plain text. Not acceptable to customers.
We see the same slowness when we open a command prompt and do echo dir>lpt2 on the vpn conenction.
Any suggestions on speeding up the printing over the VPN? Thanks for any help!
