I have a client running my vfp app through terminal server. In some of my other apps, I open external files (doc, xls, pdf, etc.) with the application associated with the extension. Because this is terminal server, I'm guessing there is no way for me to reference anything on the local computer, and if I try to open these files my app will want Word, Excel, etc installed on the server. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any suggestions?

Hi Auguy,

Well, we use Citrix, but it is the same thing. We have the necessary Office components installed in the basic profile for the server.

You can access files on your local computer..
but remember what you are doing is running a session on the server when you log in via TS, consequently file reference/registry is the server's registry, not your local machine.

In short yes the applications need to be on the server with correct permissions for your TS session to be able to reference them.

The most common solution is H2O!

Send your local drives over, including printers etc if you like... You can do this in Local Resources
