Terminal Server Profile Problem

Hello,

We've got a Windows 2003 server (Standard) running Terminal Services. The server has roughly 30 or so users. There is one user who's profile can not be loaded when he logs in and a temporary profile is issued. A reboot after hours fixes the issue for a day or two. I'm guessing as more users log on that is what's causing the issue?

The application event log shows Event ID 1508:

<<actual event details>>
Windows was unable to load the registry. This is often caused by insufficient memory or insufficient security rights.

DETAIL - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. for C:\Documents and Settings\jason.tobey\ntuser.dat
<<end details>>

It only seems to happen with this user, however once it happens and I try logging on with a test users it also happens to that user. This is a new dual cpu server with 4GB of RAM. I found one article on Microsoft that required a registry change but don't want to do that if I don't have to. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem? If so any fix?

Thanks!
Dan D

I would get the program that allows you to unlock the dat file and delete the whole profile. Allow the TS profile to down again.

Would also check the server copy also as could be the prob....

Same problem here. It is somehow caused by the ntuser.dat file being in use although the user has logged off. Removing the file is only possible after restarting the server.
