Hello,

We have a 2048k link in the centre where the terminal servers reside. 5 remote branches connect to this 2048k link and have 256k cir and 512k burst limit on each link.

Recently we have been experiencing end users getting terminal server sessions disconnected at random times. It seems that we could be experiencing congestion on the centre 2048k link because if all remote sites burst at the same time then we would be over committed in the centre.

Can anybody add any comments on this ? Also we are using Expand WAN Accelerator boxes on our frame relay but we still get this problem ?
Thanks
Danny

Have you been able to confirm that it is a utilization problem? Have you seen any stats that confirm it? If not use a tool such as prtg, mtrg, solar winds, etc, you'll just need to monitor what the utilization on the main link (2048)router. If it's a utilization problem then I would check and see if it's just one or multiple of the remote site links. How many clients do you have at the remote sites? with the Terminal servers, could it be a timeout issue, meaning after 30minutes of inactivity disconnect?
just some ideas

maybe your circuit is bouncing...call your provider and open a ticket. let them know exactly what happens, when, how, how long..etc..have them pull Performance monitoring stats (PMS)..
(im assuming that the users are going over the wan to access the server?) it could be a physical problem with the providers equipment or some setting in their FR switch.
