Hello,

I recently purchased a thin client terminal for use with our AIX 4.3 server - completely oblivious to terminal emulation (and still to some degree). Now I need to find out how to make the thin client work with the AIX 4.3 server... Normally the clients connect using c332. Here is what the thin client supports:

SESSION TYPES:
Telnet
Com
NSVT
LAT
Cterm
bapi
rlogin
super lat

TERMINAL TYPES:
VT 52
VT 100
VT 220-7
VT 220-8
VT 320-7
VT 320-8
VT 420-7
VT 420-8
VT 525-7
VT 525-8
DG
SCO-ANSI
AT386
AIXTERM
WYSE50
WYSE60
3270 Display
3270 Printer
5250 Display
5250 Printer
TVI925
TVI950
BBS-ANSI
SIEMENS
TANDEM 6530
HP700/96

I've tried the vt100, vt52, and more with no luck... the thin cilent also allows keyboard remapping I believe. Do any of you have any ideas how I can make this work?? Thanks...

How do you have it connected. What have you done in AIX to allow it to work?
AIX isn't my thing but supposedly Unix is Unix.
What test equipment or diagnostics do you have available. Ed Fair

I wish I could provide many details, but unfortunately this system is normally handled by someone else... I'm very much a *NIX newbie as well. The physical connection is thru the tcp/ip ethernet network, regular cat 5. Not sure on the logical connection, but most clients are windows based and use a program called PCN-TERM with terminal type of c332 (there are still a few old green screen dumb terminals!). For logical tests or diagnostics, I'm lost, sorry... Is there somewhere I could look perhaps? And if so, where? We do have physical tests/diagnostics, but that doesn't really apply to this situation...

Is c322 a propriatary emualtion perhaps?

Totally out of my ballpark, but you probably will have help shortly. Ed Fair

Thank you, and I also should probably add that the thin client is Linux based. So if you are aware of a Linux based termianal emulator that supports c332, perhaps it could be installed and that might do the trick???

vt100 should work fine

do you get a response from the aix box when you try and login? Mike

No VT 100 (or 52) does not work. It appeared to at first because I got a login prompt. However, after logining in, I realized that the menus were not being displayed correctly at all...

I'm thinking more and more that a linux based term emu that takes c332 would probably be the best bet, but I really don't know....
