I have a PowerServer 320 (RS 6000 based, I believe) that I picked up from a client who was throwing it away but no terminal for it. The unit appears to boot ok and I have a CD set for AIX 4.3.2. On back it has PS/2 style mouse, keyboard, and tablet ports. Also, 2 rectangular 10-pin serial ports. Is it possible to connect one of these serial ports to a PC serial port and access the unit via Hyperterminal (or other terminal emulator)? How can I gain access to this unit?

OK, so I did some research and answered my own question thanks to a great FAQ found here: . I am now connected via the S1 serial port to my PC serial 1 port using HyperTerm with vt100 emulation. I booted up in Service mode and was able to move around in HyperTerm and run some diagnostics. The problem I have now is that when I boot in Normal mode, the system becomes unresponsive after starting the rpc services. There are no error codes displayed on the front panel and the harddrive appears to no longer be active. Are there more services to start or is it waiting for a response from the console? Any help would be appreciated. Following is a transcript of everything displayed on the console (S1) port (FYI- I have nothing connected to the mouse, keyboard, or tablet PS/2 ports):
