Hi,

I have a user that wants to use their printer durring terminal server sessions. Sounds easy right? Well the user has a new HP 6100 officejet (fax, scanner, printer) series printer which is USB only.

Normally when a user has a HP series laser printer and the drivers dont match up I just install an HP4 Laserjet print driver and everything works fine, but that only seems to work for parallel printers. Is there a way for TS to see USB printers? Any ideas?

Thanks

Charles

There's a KB on that. Go to Microsoft Support and search on Terminal Service print USB and you'll find it.

Charles,

We use TS for a number of users who have HP G55 all in one type printers. TS it seems doesn't support USB printers, only LPT. Luckily with the G55's you can use LPT1 which got round the problem.

However, we were having problems with slow print speed so we switched to a product called thinprint. This is a server-client program which will control the printing for your clients. It makes it quicker because the print drivers are installed on the client machine and not on the TS.

Andy.

I am able to print through terminal server to my USB printer. I installed the printer drivers on the server. I than went to the remote computer and shared the printer that I wanted to use locally. After logging on to terminal server, I went to Network Neighboorhood to find my local machine. It did not show up, so I did a search for my computer name and found it. After I found my local machine, I clicked on the printer that I had shared and connected it. It seems to work now without a problem. THis is my first one so I will see how it goes. I also have an office jet to install on another users machine.
