Has anyone successfully run the Teradata Demo (Version 2 - V2R4.1) on a WindowsXP machine?
I have a Gateway Solo 9550 laptop that I would like to run the demo on. It is more than capable hardware-wise, but unfortunately it came with WindowsXP Pro, not Windows2000 Pro.
I have been to the Teradata site and dl'd their files and readmes for running the demo on WindowsXP, but unfortunately, I have one of the PC's that gives out the documented, 'Teradata GTW Reserve Port Event: Bind error 10048' problem.
I tried the workaround but didn't get anywhere.
Since WXP market share continues to increase, I am hoping someone out there has been able to get this working.
Also, can you tell me, if you have it working, does the client software work or is it just the database that works? By that I mean that I have discovered BTEQ, BTEQWin, FEXP client software doesn't like WindowsXP either.
Without the ability to run those clients, getting the database to work isn't all that attractive an option to me.
The purpose of putting the demo on my laptop is to be able to debug bteq scripts, help in classrooom instruction settings, etc. So I need the whole 'shootin match' to work on WindowsXP.
If you've been able to do this and to conquer the 'Teradata GTW Reserve Port Event: Bind error 10048' problem, sing out please !
