I'm impressed, that site just made my list of tutorial sites as a 5 star site.

Getting back to the tentacles...

If you're going to use Illustrator, I would suggest adding an extra step. Before distorting the triangle shape, drag it on to the brushes palette and specify 'New Art Brush' in the dialog that appears. Now you can just draw tentacles more intuitively with the brush tool, or apply it to pen strokes and shapes. You can also save it for later use, and change colors easily. Just a thought...

If you don't have Illustrator, and you want to get smoother shading in Photoshop, create a new path and draw the direction you want the shade/highlight to go. Now change the brush options (specify a fade, for example, along with color and initial brush size) and in the Path palette menu, choose 'Stroke Path'. Specify brush and it will be like the brush following the path you drew, fading as it goes along. It's much more accurate than using a mouse!

blueark: i followed the tutoiral from robouk and everything went fine till the end...don't know how but i have done those effects very smooth the first time...but when i tried it the second time it doesn't went so fine...:)...now i have a very cool tentacle but don't know how i did it...funny isn't it? :)

maybe if you have ym or msn we can discuss easily and when we come to a solution we post it here for everybody.
