Hi there, bit of a puzzler.
Ok windows xp client connecting through windows vpn to a windows 2003 remote access vpn server, pptp based vpn forwarded through a cisco router from a single static public IP.
No problems connecting, authenticating or getting IP address.
Sometimes.. it works fine for a day or more with NO problems at all.
Sometimes.. it works for around one to five minutes then stops (doesn't drop the connection - shows as connected on the server)I can see data leaving the client but no reply traffic over the vpn link. e.g. basic ping test is fine for two minutes then just stops responding.
If it stops responding them dropping the connection and re-establishing will again bring connectivity back for a couple of minutes then it stops again.
Once the connection is terminated from the client, the respective events on the server show the connection was properly closed down.
This has been checked with two completely different XP computers at two separate locations with different internet connections. The same thing occurs on both.
Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions.
Nick
