How do i prevent users from deleting the temporary internet files from the hard disk. I am a teacher running a school network and wish to 'police' the students internet access.

Implement a proxy server that the students don't have access to and secure the log files on that.
The proxy server can be set up with bias to limit access or log access. It depends whether you want to prevent or to prosecute, on how you set it up.
In order to pin down who did what, when, users must have to provide unique username & password. If you don't have that to start with you are on a loosing streak.
Advantages - central access point, easy security & lock down.
Disadvantages - can become slow as no. of users grow, an extra box to administer. Ian
