Dear folks,
I have got a problem....
I watched a music video and i was interested to save it to my hard disc. But it saves only the short cut. Hence, i searched to temporary internet file. I found the same file name but not a video file, surface worksheet file. When i open the surface worksheet file in the temp. internet folder, it opens the movie even offline. But when i copied the surface worksheet file to some other folder and try to open it, it is opened in excel. What can i do to save the file or change the surface worksheet file to a movie?

Thanks in advance

It sounds like your file extension mapping may be messed up. What extension does the file have? Is it something like ".avi", ".mpg", ".mov", etc?

The file has an extension of .wav. I tried opening the surface worksheet file in note pad and changing the extension to .wav.. but it couldn't help me.

.wav is the file extension for a asound file, not a movie file.

Are you sure it is really a movie file/ Have you tried downloading it in a different browser (Firefox, etc)?

No i haven't tried it in a different browser other than IE. And the .wav file has a sound and moving pictures....video format...i am not sure whether you call it a movie or not.

Aaah - when you say "moving pictures", you are probably referring to the vidsualisations that come with media player, etc.

This is probably a sound file only.

Sorry! it is nice i tried to see the file formats. WAV is audio file but my file format is WMV. Apologies!

Looking for your help.......Any idea is appreciated.........

View the source of the page, find the URL of the sound/video file, and see if you can download it directly. If you can, you should be able to save it.

Thank u very much...i tried it and it saves the playlist file not the whole content.

i think you're accessing an streaming video file. there are many freeware/shareware out there that can save the actual file to your hard drive. just google up "save video stream" (or something like that) and tons of results will show up. here are some:

1. hidownload
2. avi-to-mpeg converter

hope this helps. peace! [peace]
