I am having the a problem with temporary disconnections in my network which is causing excel programs and other that require a constant internet connection to either disconnect very frequestnly or to not save documents (I reposted this from the Microsoft office group). I have hear that I might just have a bad switch, however I have quite a bit of different hardware that I'm working with so there are lots of variables as to what may be having problems. I have a home office with 12 computers set up all working off a 5 Mbs Cable internet connection. The cable internet is then wired to my router which had 2 8 port gigabit switches attached to which our computers are connected.

We use AOL Instant Messanger and we are losing our connection to that all day long, but I don't know enough about how to troubleshoot this problem since i have 2 switches, 1 router, a cable modem and 12 computers. Maybe there is a program that can run and tell me when I'm losing the connection or somehting. Any suggestions would be invaluable.

let me mention that I have all Dlink hardware, but I did not see a Dlink thread anywhere.

What model is the Modem? I have the DCM-202 and have very similar issues. I have also posted in this forum.

my cable modem from the cable company is model #60678EU, but I have 2 dgs-1008D 8 port gigabit switches and a di-624 4 port wireless router connected to the modem.
