I'm trying to assist a client that is trying to invoke a temporary closure message using the instructions in thread689-1432768. He is saying that if he sets the start time to today (say Wednesday), it is scheduling the message for next week Wednesday at 0001 and not turning on the temporary closure message now. We no longer have a test system so I can't test it locally.

My theory is that he has to set the temporary closure message for Wednesday at some time after the current time and then it will start today. If it sees a time before the current time, it will set it to the next Wednesday. Am I correct? Is there some other way to get it to work?

Thanks in advance.

from Merlin messaging r3 System managers Quick Reference (page 182)

The Temporary Schedule can be programmed for the current day and/or the
following six days. It also can be canceled anytime before or while the Temporary
Schedule is in effect. The Temporary Schedule does not carry over from week to
week; it expires at the end of the day for which you created it..

To set the Temporary Schedule for the entire day, enter 0000 as the
start time and 2359 as the end time.

I've not used the temporary schedule, so I don't know if your theory is correct.

Does Merlin messaging have correct date/time ? I've definitely been bitten by incorrect date/time settings.

Good thing to check. However, this is one of the smarter clients we have and doubt date and time are wrong. I won't assume and will check. If it isn't correct, I'll fix it.

Thanks.

Considering this is a MERLIN MESSAGING, you can, with a Modem and a little effort, DOWNLOAD the way it's programmed, then you will be able to see what's going on a bit better.

Here is an update/solution. I had the client try setting the start time of the temporary closure to the same day but a few minutes in the future. That resolved the issue. Apparently, if you use the correct day but the time is prior to the current time, it will assume you mean next week.

Thanks for your responses.

Thanks For the update.

1Jumbo, Sorry for posting in this thread but the thread I need is already closed and I can not send you a personal message.
I have exactly the same problem as you mentioned in this thread: Have you resolved the issue with patch 20558 for 02.0.823.0?

To MaximG re: thread 1693265

I did not apply the patch due to some other unrelated issues. I can't verify if it worked or not.
